How to make dog better with people?
I have a 2 and a half year old German Shepherd. He is actually very, very friendly, the only problem is that he's really hyper, and with such a big dog that can be intimidating. He also has a habit which we're in the process of breaking of mouthing. He'll put his mouth around someone's hand or arm, but he never actually puts on any pressure, so he isn't biting. Again, it scares people sometimes. I might use him for a fan trailer I'm doing with friends, but I want to make him more able to be around people first. Can anyone help me learn how to calm him down? He gets especially hyper around big groups of people...
Old Quirky names for dogs?
I love funny kind of old fashioned names for my pets, I have a pug but something like Mable, Augie and Gerty for girls and Humphrey, Samson and Barnaby for boys. I kind of like Gilbert too. I'm just looking for a good list to choose from. They don't even have to be old, just quirky.
Is a border collie a good family dog?
ok, so i always research before i look into a breed. and i've wanted a border collie since i was 5. now i'm 13. we have 2 dogs at my dad's but they are family dogs. my dad said if i wanted to i could, but i would be responsible for it. he's saying yes because he knows i am responsible and mature. my stepmom doesn't like big dogs. allie is 14 pounds schnoodle and misa is 6 pounds pomeranian chihuahua . they love to play with big dogs there are a lot of golden retrievers in our neighbourhood as well. i know both of them are the top 2 dogs, but goldens i find are very expensive due to their popularity and being known as the top family dog. i know the border collie is very active and needs to run and have challenges.so here's how i find the border collie is great for me i'm very very active, can't sit still and love to run. i need challenges as well and i think it will challenge me as well my own dog they are my favourite dogs, and i research them. i know their behaviour and needs allie and misa will enjoy a friend bigger than them smaller dogs than them scare them how a border collie won't be good for me i go to school for 6 hours a day 5 days a week my mom and stepdad are moving and my twin sister and i live with them and visit my dad 2 days a week for 4 hours then every other weekend from friday sunday night or monday morning.anyways, they are looking at a couple houses. and they have a couple acres, and this one house is i think my mom said 500 square feet or something? i don't know but it's about 5 times the size of our house, which is 1100 square i don't know if it's feet or whatever, not sure . anyways, so it'll be very big so room is fine.only one problem with that though...my stepdad is allergic to animals. he grew up with dogs and horses though.but i figure it would sleep in my room and i would obviously brush it every day. that would help the shedding, and we are all neat freaks basically so we vacuum a lot which won't be any difference anyways.so cleaning, avtivity, and caring are no problem. as well as room and training. i am thinking on putting the dog in agility or frizbee or flyball. i don't know yet. so do you guys think this is the dog for me?feel free to put suggestions and ideas.name ideas and genders too please ?i think i may want a male, because females get their periods and no diapers are big enough for medium sized dogs the dog will live at my dad's with us until my mom moves. if she doesn't let me keep it at the house i will either keep it outside, keep it at my dad's, or move in with my dad.wherever it lives isn't a problem. thanks jamie sorry for this being sooooooooooooooooooooo long

My dog bit the vet today?
My dog was getting his annual raibes shots, and the Vet didnt handle him correctly in My opinion and he lunged at him and nipped at him. If i hadnt pulled him away he probably would have bitten him. My dog is 5 years old and has been going to the vet for 5 years. This had NEVER happened before. So do you think it was my dogs fault or the vets fault? He is a Male Beagle and Nuetered

my cousin was telling me about a dog in her town in the Caribbeans that is known for always getting pregnant by random dogs in the street like twice a year. Our new dog keeps peeing in the floor and he won't stop. Help!?
We just rescued a 6 year old lab a couple days ago and he continues to pee and poop in the floor. He has a lot of energy and we take him on short walks but he rarely pees or poops. We scold him when he does it inside and reward him when he does it outside and nothing is working. We have another female dog who's 4 but I don't think that has anything to do with it because she is so calm and they don't interact much.by scold I mean let him know that it's wrong...I would never harm him in anyway
Dog in Kidney Failure?
I just found out the my dog is in kidney failure and the vet wants to put her to sleep as soon as possible. The only problem is, I'm 1400 miles away and won't be able to get home for a few weeks college professors won't accept " my dog is dying" as a reasonable excuse for missing class . The thought of not being by her side in her final moments is killing me. Is there anything I can do to take her pain away? Any pills I can request from the doctor? I don't want to force her to suffer for my own selfish reasons but it the same time if there's a way I can keep her alive long enough to be with her I would prefer to do that. She was a rescue dog and has stood by me for 6 years.I would appreciate any insight anyone has to offer.
Dog breaks out of crate?
Okay. Ive gotten the papers I need for my dogs and the papers from the shelter for the cats declawing, and the dog that has its ears cropped done so by the breeder I bought as adult. The 6 month PET home quarantine has begun, in case the house sells we don't want to have to put a 6 month stipulation on it. I have started putting my old staff lab mix into crate training. She was my first dog and i made the mistake of NOT crate training her. And now I am having major problems crate training her. She does have separation anxiety, but its normally just walking and pacing a whining around the house when im not home. She is 13 years old. I bought brand new plastic travel crates as at home I use the wire ones. The first time I put her in a wire crate, and left, she DEMOLISHED it. And was loose in the 30 mins it took me to run to town. So I opened her brand new plastic crate, and the next day i had to run to town it was 20 mins. She had ripped the little holes along the sides into bigger holes, and bent the crap out of the door enough she got it off. She is fine in the crate for hours when I am home. Or even outside in the yard. However when she hears the truck pull out of the drive. She goes bonkers.
